. By itself, however, pleasure is not quivalent to either reward or ‘wanting’: it is merely a subjective cxpcricncc or feeling. The evaluation of the sensation that produces pleasure is pre-conscious; only the product, the subjective pleasure, is experienced. In the present paper and in the context of addiction, the term pleasure is used synonymously with the terms cuphoria, hcdonia or positive affective state.
